Our Mission

Mission

North Marion United and Elite (NMUE) was established in order to provide equitable access to sports for all children within its boundaries. NMUE offers multiple sports including soccer, basketball, softball, baseball, football, and potentially more in the future through formal league play, both recreational and competitive, as well as various clinics, camps, and open field/gym opportunities throughout the year.

NMUE aims to instill a love of sport and athleticism in all kids regardless of skill or age.  NMUE is devoted to fostering and providing a high quality sports environment in order to give all the players, coaches, referees and parents every opportunity to enjoy the game and to help them achieve their maximum potential as participants in this sport, while at all times promoting a sense of fair play.

Values

Sportsmanship - act in fairness both on the field and off toward your teammates, opponents, and spectators. Be supportive, have a positive and respectful attitude and show up ready and willing to learn.

Fun - Kids will continue playing if they develop a love for the game, but that love will only grow as they actually enjoy it. Fun is not the enemy of hard work. They can co-exist in youth sports.

Teamwork - These are team sports and it takes a whole team to see success. Teamwork is needed in every area of life as the kids grow up and team sports is a golden opportunity to help kids learn the value of teamwork.

Safety - Whatever sport your child plays, it’s important they learn the rules of safety and wear proper safety equipment.

Work hard - Kids need to see that hard work pays off. Why else would they do it? There’s nothing like finally getting a base hit after working hard at the batting cages when struggling through a slump.

Learn - No child should be demeaned for making mistakes. Parents and coaches must learn to love unconditionally while teaching kids how to learn and grow from failure.

Every child should be challenged to reach their potential  - We recognize that every child’s potential is different, and are committed to helping each young athlete stretch out of their comfort zone and grow to be the best they can be. Additionally, every child deserves the opportunity to reach their potential and not everyone grows at the same rate. We recognize that, and meet the kids where they are.

Every child should leave the season a better person and player than they began the season. - Our goal is that at the end of every season, every player has grown both in skills and in their character.

Finance

We recognize that cost can sometimes be a barrier for some families to have their children participate in organized sports. Because we want to provide access to organized sports to all, we offer a variety of options to help with registration fees including payment plans, scholarships, and potentially more. Please reach out to a member of the board for additional information.

Governance

NMUE is a non-profit organization governed by its members. NMUE has established a board of directors who are responsible for overseeing the executive and financial functions of the organization. Coordinators for each sport age group are responsible for overseeing all logistics necessary for their assigned sports including but not limited to registration, uniforms, court/field coordination and maintenance, referee fees, and other tasks as needed to ensure a successful season.

Parents of student players are “members” of the NMUE organization and as such have a voice in many aspects of how the organization serves kids. Parent members are invited and encouraged to attend the annual meeting to vote in board elections, as well as general public board meetings. We want to you hear your ideas and feedback in order to continuously improve our organization. Parents of students registered in at least one sport in the current or previous year and who attend the annual meeting are allotted one vote per parent/kid combo (not to exceed 2 votes per household).

As Coaches and coordinators participating in the organization, they will also be allotted one vote.

Members of the board of directors are elected each year during the annual meeting when  positions are available. Board members serve a term of 3 years. These members are responsible for making day to day decisions about the NMUE organization including but not limited to budgets, policies, and staffing.
